Abydos is one of the oldest cities of ancient Egypt and holds great religious significance. The Temple of Seti I at Abydos is known for its beautifully preserved bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Egyptian mythology, including the renowned Abydos King List, which lists the names of many pharaohs of ancient Egypt. It was considered a sacred site dedicated to Osiris, the god of the afterlife.
